Biographical Extensions II was the second part of a two-part project that began at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. For three months prior to that exhibition we collected discarded and unwanted materials from various MCA waste streams to create a site- and material-specific installation. Material Exchange, along with a group of collaborators fabricated twenty-four two-by-two-by-two-foot modular cubes (see above). Three planters were chosen for relocation to the Betty Rymer gallery for the exhibition entitled Negotiated Localities, to undergo an incubation period between lives as sculpture and plant container. The
videos document the relocation from the MCA, as well as their individual futures as plant containers.
